Overall, the iD24 brings this unit in line with other 2nd generation iDs, offering an attractive balance of features, with heavy focus on a genuinely audiophile front end – which we love. The iD24 has overhauled electronics which means improved signal to noise ratio, better dynamic range and improved headphone output. Completing the I/O are a pair of ADAT connectors. There’s also one headphone output, but with two sockets that you can use simultaneously. For outputs, you have two stereo pairs which can be assigned as Main and Alt monitors. Mr Cleary said no orders have yet been taken for the V8 Spyder, which will not be available with the $10,900 Carbon Edition package offered on the coupe (both V8 and V10) and V10 Spyder. Perhaps coincidentally, the announcement of its release coincided with the local launch of another convertible V8 soft-top in the sleek shape of the more expensive, more powerful SLS Roadster from rival Mercedes-Benz. With an all-new replacement for the R8 due in 2014, the entry-level Spyder will help Audi maintain interest in the supercar during its twilight years. The V8-powered R8 Spyder – which with 316kW of power and 430Nm of torque can hit 100km/h in 4.8 seconds – was launched globally in July 2010, almost a year after the V10 version debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt show. First deliveries of the entry-level Spyder are expected mid-year, roughly coinciding with initial shipments of the hardcore and highly exclusive GT version – with just five of the 333 cars produced bound for Australia. Audi Australia corporate communications executive Shaun Cleary told GoAuto the V8 was not initially offered in order to reduce complexity and in recognition of Australia’s preference for coupes over convertibles, but that Audi has now decided to import it in response to the level of customer inquiry. ![]() It took a year for the V10 Spyder to reach Australian shores but the V8 will have taken almost twice that by the time first examples arrive. Its arrival in the line-up should bolster the German luxury brand’s flagship model, sales of which dropped from 103 three years ago to 54 last year. AUDI Australia has slashed the price of entry to its R8 Spyder drop-top supercar by almost $80,000 with the introduction of a less powerful 4.2-litre V8 version, available to order from $300,400 plus on-road costs. ![]() ![]() Sounds great, Rock'n away! If you do not listen to your music at moderate to high volumes, feel free to adjust the BASS and TREBLE settings to your liking. These settings are a prolonged attempt to offer the most balanced, peak-less and desirable sound possible based on what BMW has left on the table for us. Its basic layout is more SQ than anything. for those wanting a thumping heart rattling sound system, don't expect these settings to offer that by any means! The LOGIC7 sound system in our E9x's are not that type of audio system. Technik is one of them that comes to mind. And as always, if any of you have questions or curious about anything, I will do my best to help you out.īesides myself, there are a few others I have seen around this part of the forum who are knowledgable in the car audio arena. I hope this simplified thread can help all of you. The under seat subs in the E90's do not provide the same type of bass as opposed to the E92's and in essence its gives the feeling that the stereo is weaker to its 2-door counterpart. The settings posted directly above, are the best settings I could come up for the E90's with LOGIC7. The sound staging in the coupes are a lot better, bass focus is more centralized, tighter and stronger due to the way its setup in the car. ![]() Unfortunately, the E90's have it worse than the E92's. Well, FINALLY those are the settings for the E90's. This is a very ideal quality! Yes, I do feel that BMW could have done a better job with its LOGIC7 setup (Mercedes does a much better job at it), but this sounds good for what it is. Through time and experience with this audio system, I have learned that once dialed in well, the LOGIC7 surround processor actually helps to widen the sound field as if you are in a larger car. If you decide to not use LOGIC7, there is nothing wrong with that. Listen to some new age classical such as Yanni playing the piano, and you will see exactly what I am trying to say. It only crowds the sound and makes certain notes and instruments play very peaky and annoyingly. First thing is first, sound staging should NEVER be toward the rear of the car. Why did I say leave it off before, and now I am saying its good to turn on? Well here is the reason: With the FADER set to 0 or biased toward the rear like how some others recommended, you will get that dreaded rear fading issue, where it sounds like the rear's are cutting in and out. The settings posted above, I recommend using LOGIC7 in the MUSIC mode for NON I-Drive vehicles. make sure the IPOD internal EQ is turned off! (This applies to ALL CARS!) I bought two, one straight and one serrated. One of the nicer knives I bought long ago was a Gerber First Production Run 1995 knife. The strands of the rope get caught by the serration and the knife rope combination just moves back and fourth over the cutting service. But the main reason is they don't cut rope well. One is that it is very difficult to sharpen a serrated blade. There are two things I do not like about serrated blades. There are many blade shapes but for this I want to talk about serrated and straight blades. ![]() I am only going to consider locking blades, another reason to eliminate Swiss army knives by the way. The blade can close on our hand and do serious damage. Knives come in two styles, locking blades and non locking blades. The next refinement is on the blade mechanism. That leaves single blade knives and rigging knives. But for the purpose of this discussion, we are leaving them out. They can cut wood, clip your finger nails, and even cut. They are better than nothing if you are doing something like camping. The Swiss army knife is a little better in that you can actually carry one in your pocket but they really don't do much well. There is nothing more awkward than trying to use the knife blade out of a multi tool. When I want a pair of pliers, I get a pair of pliers. I always thought a multi tool would be a great thing, which is why I have four, but I never use them. They do a lot of different things and do them all very poorly. Swiss army knives and multi tools share one very important characteristic. I have also researched or tried every rigging knife I could find as that is of special interest. I have four multi tools, several Swiss army knives, countless single blade knives (30+), and four rigging knives. Within that pocket knife category, we are going to first look at these sub categories. The first cut (pun) is to just look at folding knives. We need to narrow this down to just a few. If you search Amazon for knives, you will find that there are half a million listed. If you look at the universe of knives you will find it very large. ![]() But even if you know what you want the knife for, there are still ways of narrowing down the universe of knives to one that you will be happy with.
